Alexander said in his statement that he did not coordinate with the Proud Boys and that his contact with the Oath Keepers was limited to accepting an offer for them to act as ushers at an event that never took place. The Oath Keepers are accused of being involved in a conspiracy to break into the Capitol.

I did not finance the equipment. I never talked to the White House about security groups. Alexander said that the militia working security at the Ellipse belonged to Women for America First. I was offered to act as an escort for the Area 8 event, but it was lost in the chaos. I was not in contact with any of the groups while I was near the Capitol. I'm not willing to presume anyone's guilt.

Alexander said that he did nothing wrong and that he was not in possession of evidence that anyone else had plans to commit illegal acts.

CNN unearthed a video of Alexander saying he intended to reach out to the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers about doing security for his event despite his opposition to other extremists.

Alexander's statement about the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers was misconstrued. Alexander only had limited interactions with the Oath Keepers on January 6, 2021.
