Vitalik Buterin, the Russian-born co-owner of the digital currency, is quietly supporting the war in Ukraine.

The youngest billionaire in the world donated $5 million to the Ukrainians. The Aid for Ukraine initiative was created by the Ukranian government, and Buterin sent about 2.5 million dollars to it.

Buterin's donations can be seen on the website, buterin.eth.

Buterin did not publicly announce his contributions. They were publicized by the organizations that received them.

Alex Bornyakov, deputy minister of digital transformation, thanked them on Wednesday.

I couldn't be more grateful for every donation to Aid forUkraine. Thanks to Vitalik Buterin for standing with us.

The Aid for Ukraine accounts mentioned the donation on social media, but Buterin didn't say a word.

We're incredibly grateful for @VitalikButerin support and donation of 750ETH!

Besides Unchain Fund, Vitalik has also donated the same amount to @Ukraine.

1500ETH = ~$5m that will make a difference for those in need in Ukraine! 🇺🇦

Thank you, Vitalik & Ethereum fam! 🙏🏻💛💙 pic.twitter.com/RSGy4q2TY7
