We were hearing about a new World of Hyatt card. We thought it would be a premium personal card. It turns out that we were a bit off. The World of Hyatt Business credit card is what it is. Many people were hoping for this, especially since Chase business cards don't count towards Chase 5/24 status. Let's take a look at the offer and the new World of Hyatt Business card details.
If you want to take advantage of this offer, you have a few days left to do so.
If you spend $50,000 or more on the card in a calendar year, you will receive 10% of your points back as bonus points for the rest of the year.
I will go into more detail later this week when I have more time to digest the new World of Hyatt business card.
The 75,000 World of Hyatt points welcome offer is as high as we have seen, but it is in line with the Ink Cash and Ink Unlimited which can transfer to Hyatt if you have a premium Chase card.
The card comes with a $199 annual fee, but you can offset it with hotel credits. The no fee Ink cards require a premium card to unlocks points, so I guess that comes in about even.
The earning structure doesn't change much for me. I think you can do better elsewhere if you don't have a lot of other cards. You can earn 2X on gas with the Ink Cash or 4X with the Amex Gold Business card. I don't know if this offers a lot of value.
You can earn 5 elite night credits per $10,000 in spend if you like Hyatt status. The World of Hyatt personal card only gives you 4 elite night credits for the same spend, so I wish the card came with more. It would be better if they would stack like Bonvoy does.
The 10% back in points after spending $50,000 is very interesting. The World of Hyatt card has 15K free night spend starting next year. 10% of your points are back for the rest of the year if you hit that number. You would get 25 elite night credits for the spend. After hitting the spend, it only gets you 10% back. If you spend a lot and can hit it early in the year, this increases your earn rate for Hyatt cards by 10%. If you transfer the Ultimate rewards to Hyatt, that's how it will be. This could save you a lot of money depending on your travel patterns.
The World of Hyatt Business card was close to being really good. It doesn't have the chance to earn a free night certificate via spend. The lack of elite night credits to give you a head start on the year is a missed opportunity.
The card will be interesting to anyone who is chasing Hyatt Globalist status. The chance to get 10% back on award stays is tempting, and the increased earn rate on spend for elite night credits is nice. $50,000 is a steep hill to climb and the spend requirements are out of reach for most.
It will be of interest to people who have maxed out on their Ink business cards. It's never a bad thing to have more options.
