The teaser poster for Star Trek: Lower Decks season 3, featuring wreckage in the shape of the Federation insignia.

Star Trek: Lower Decks has turned out to be one of the more fun additions to the franchise, and its second season saw the crew of the ship step up in a way they previously hadn't. The Federation arrested the captain of the Cerritos for supposedly destroying the pakled planet just when it felt like everyone was able to celebrate their victory.

The Lower Deckers have a daughter, Beckett Mariner, and two sons, Brad and Jack Quaid. The ensigns are going to steal the Cerritos and save the captain. The first trailer for the new season of Star Trek Mission Chicago shows our four screw ups getting ready to hijack their ship, which is noticeably missing its outer plating now that it has been grounded.

The destruction of the pakled planet is not known, but that will be one of the many threads from the second season of Lower Decks. The last episode of the season, "Wej duj," ended with the same problem as the previous one, as Mike McMahon teased back in October. Another storyline will play out? Beckett tried to date the junior officer of the Andorian school before deciding to make nice in the final moments of the finale. With how much of an emotional mess Beckett is, and how much of a wild adventurer the Lower Deckers get up to on a weekly basis, it will be fun to see how she meshes in with the rest of the group.

Paramount+ has the first two seasons of Star Trek: Lower Decks. The third season is due out later this year and features our old friend, medic Ensign Peanut Hamper.
