Tiger Woods will be at Augusta National for the weekend.

Woods, who is playing in his first tournament since he was seriously injured in a car wreck in February 2021, fought his way through early struggles and windy conditions to card a 2-over 74 in the second round on Friday. He is tied for 19th after 36 holes.

It was windy. Woods said the greens were moving and it was swirling. There were a couple of bad gusts. I hit some bad shots. I hit a decent shot at 4, but it ended up in a hole. It was like there were many things that weren't going my way. It was partly because of the conditions and partly because of me.

After a difficult start, in which Woods bogeyed four of his first five holes, he told his caddie, "Hey, we got a lot of holes to play." It will be tough all day, so let's get it back to even par for the day.

I thought that would be a pretty good comeback, Woods said.

It was a wild ride for the 15-time major champion. It was the first time in five years that Woods had six bogeys at the Masters. He has made the cut in each of his past 22 starts at the Masters, the third-longest streak by any player in the tournament's history.

Woods hit 10 of 14 on Friday after struggling to hit the fairway in the first round. He hit 9 of 18 greens in regulation, but didn't scramble or putt as well as he did on Thursday.

Woods said he got back in the game. Scottie is running away with it. Saturday is going to be difficult. It is going to be windy. It will be cool. The Masters committee has been looking forward to it for a number of years. We haven't had it like this before.

It was difficult at times on Friday. Woods dropped back to 3-over for the tournament after recording bogeys on the 11th and 12th. He got a break on the 13th hole. Woods fanned his second shot with a 5-wood to the right of the hole after his tee shot. His ball stopped just short of Rae's Creek.

Woods told LaCava the perfect layup after his ball stopped.

Woods was able to get up and down with his shot. The projected cut line was 4 over, but he was 2 shots better than that.

Woods hit a long drive on the next hole. He hit the green with an approach shot that spun back toward the hole. He made another 9-footer.

There were two more good chances for Woods, but he missed them.

Along the way, I kept getting my feels and hitting shots. Start seeing the break again. I have been in Florida. I haven't played the Tour in a long time, so we don't see a break.

Woods was off to a bad start Friday. Tiger Woods bogeyed the first hole of the Masters for the 23rd time in his career after hitting his first tee shot into the fairway. He bogeyed Nos. 3, 4 and 5. He missed a 7-foot par putt on the third hole and a 14-footer on the fifth. Woods was 1-for-5 in the first nine holes on Friday, after going 7-for-9 in the first round.

It was the second time in Woods' career that he started a major with a score of 5 or worse on three consecutive holes. His lowest score through four holes was 3-over.

It has been a while since Woods has played a lot of tournaments, but he is starting to come around. I could have easily left the tournament today, but I kept going.
