A great man once said, "I want that short-ass movie."

Superhero movies that go in at three hours are among the longest in Hollywood, along with the most standard movies which go over two. Sometimes you just want to watch a good old fashioned 90 to 100 minute movie, and that is your right as a cinephile. We are not going to start The Irishman at 9 pm. Be rational!

Here are the best movies that have a reasonable length: An hour and 40 minutes or less.

1. To All the Boys I've Loved Before

A teenage boy and girl shake hands over a picnic table under cherry blossoms; still from "To All the Boys I've Loved Before."

Fake dating could never turn real, right? RIGHT?? Credit: Netflix

This criminally charming movie based on the novel by Jenny Han was part of the revival of the rom-com. Writing letters to her most epic crush is a habit that Lara Jean (Lana Condor) has. She starts pretending to date Peter Kavinsky to distract attention from her real crush on her sister's boyfriend.

With a bouncy pop soundtrack and visual style that is the envy of your entire feed, To All the Boys is the kind of movie you can return to again and again. Will we ever tire of watching fake love blossom? If they are half as cute as Centineo, the answer is no.

You can watch To All The Boys Ive LOVED Before on the internet.

2. Shrek

One of the most popular kid movies of all time is still celebrated 20 years later. It balances gross-out gags with a sweet story about loving yourself and never judging a book by its cover. Everyone's favorite grouchy green ogre, Shrek, reluctantly seeks to rescue PrincessFiona. Along the way, he encounters a sidekick, fights a dragon, and monologues about onions. The shenanigans are new in the sequel. The sequel is worth the watch for its own sequence alone.

There is a new movie on streaming service.

3. A Nightmare on Elm Street

Oh, Freddy, you're old so-and-so!

The first outing of the Springwood Slasher, written and directed by Wes Craven, is among the more silly supernatural nightmares. There is no denying the charm that comes with rewatching the havoc wreaked by this venerable, villainous powerhouse.

Kick back and relax as Mr. Krueger frightens teenagers unlucky enough to live in his zip code. You will enjoy dreams that are real but sometimes not, fashion decisions that didn't make sense then, and more. Alison Foreman is an Entertainment Reporter.

4. His House

Close up of a woman clutching her hand to her mouth to not scream; still from "His House."

Me watching this movie ngl Credit: Netflix

My favorite scary movie of 2020 is His House by writer-director Remi Weekes. Wunmi Mosaku and Sope Dirisu play refugees from South Sudan who are assigned to live in an eerie neighborhood where they are not welcome. His House is frightening and critical of its subject matter.

His House is now available on the internet.

5. Lady Bird

Gerwig's coming-of-age story was praised for its dark humor. Lady Bird received five Academy Award nominations, including a nod for Saoirse Ronan, who plays the troubled teen seeking her identity through rebellion, romance, and recklessness. This movie deals with teen angst, mother-daughter drama, and frustrating first times, but Gerwig and her cast are not worried. So don't let the prestige affect you.

Lady Bird is available on the streaming service.

6. Vampires vs. the Bronx

Are you looking for a movie that has fun, comedy, and a message about the evils of gentrification? Vampires vs. the Bronx is a movie. Afro-Latino teens know that a lot of missing person posters and rich white people with tote bags mean bad news for the neighborhood in Oz Perkins's horror-comedy. They team up to take down the bloodsuckers and save their community. Vampires vs. the Bronx is an easy film to watch because of its sharp wit, warm heart, rich sense of atmosphere, and equal appreciation for the movies of the 80's and 90's.

You can watch Vampires vs. the Bronx on the internet.

7. The Perfection

Close up on two young women sitting on a bus, one asleep against the window and the other looking pensively in the other direction; still from "The Perfection."

This is, um, not the beginning of a good trip. Credit: Netflix

The Perfection does whatever it wants. This vibrant genre blend will get a reaction out of you, as it features Allison Williams in her best role since Get Out and Dear White People andLogan Browning in her best part ever. A reaction, but not necessarily a good one. It is a body horror, psychological thriller, occult drama, and classical music. With bugs. And vomit. I loved it!

The Perfection is on the streaming service.

8. The Platform (El Hoyo)

Imagine a prison with two cells on top of each other with holes in the floor and ceiling. Each month, levels are assigned. A platform of food that is slowly lowered from the very top is sparse and sparser with each floor it descends from. This is the concept at the center of Spanish director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia's The Platform, a disturbing sci-fi thriller that wears its capitalist analogy plainly on its prison garb sleeve. It is one of those rare gems where the execution is as strong as the idea at its core, driven by an excellent screenplay from David Desola and Pedro Rivero that is dripping with horror and suspense. Sam Haysom is the deputy U.K. editor.

The platform is available on the internet.

9. She’s Gotta Have It

Thirty-one years ago, She's gotta Have It was a daring comedy that launched Spike Lee's career and became a landmark in America's emerging independent film scene. Filmed on a tight budget and on black-and-white stock, this Lee joint centers on a charming Brooklyn-based graphic artist who is juggling three male lovers. Nola is forced to consider what she wants from her relationships when these jealous men demand she choose just one of them. The side of Black experience rarely shown in mainstream movies was championed by critics. He received the award for The Award of Youth and the award for Best First Feature at the Independent Spirit Awards.

She's gotta have it is available on the streaming service.

10. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf

Animated shot of a man brandishing a knife behind him, about to strike; still from "The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf."

Before Geralt there was Vesemir. Credit: Netflix

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf adds a satisfying chapter to the ongoing Witcherverse. It takes place decades before Geralt's adventures begin, focusing on the history of Vesemir and the battle at Kaer Morhen that decimated the Witcher population. The animation illuminates Vesemir's struggle as he ponders the questions of love or money. Is it preservation or sacrifice? To witcher or not to witcher?

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is available on the streaming service.

11. Richie Rich

Macaulay Culkin plays the richest boy in the world, whose life takes a turn for the worse when his parents disappear in a plane crash. When he wants to play baseball with the normal kids, he has to take over as head of the Rich Corporation. It would be easy if everyone in the world didn't want to steal his parents' business and fortune. The adventure and warmth of all the best family films can be found in Richie Rich.

Richie Rich is available on the streaming service.

12. The Breaker Uppers

The comedy ground of New Zealand gave us Taika Waititi, Flight of the Conchords, and What We Do In The Shadows. Waititi collaborators James Rolleston, and Jemaine Clement are working on a comedy about two long-time besties with a crazy business model. Do you need someone to dump your partner? Call on Jen and Mel, they are co-writers and co-directors. For a reasonable fee, these fearless Breaker Upperers will impersonate police officers, play pregnant, or even fake your death to help you ghost an ex. Whatever the shenanigans, van Beek and Sami sparkle. This comedy is guaranteed to leave you laughing.

The Breaker Uppers is now available on the internet.

13. Monty Python's Life of Brian

You might be more of a Holy Grail guy, but Life of Brian is for those who value a true underdog like Jesus. Brian Cohen was born next to a Son of the Living God and grew up to despise and eventually defy the Romans in his home. Brian joined the resistance, met a girl, was declared the messiah, and may have gotten more than he bargained for.

Monty Python's Life of Brian is now available on the internet.

14. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs the Reverend

A man and woman looking shocked in the woods; still from 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend."

What's got Kimmy and Titus so shocked? It could actually be a number of things, and YOU get to choose. Credit: Netflix

Depending on how you interact with the movie, it may go over 100 minutes, but at that point, you are having too much fun to notice. An old book from Kimmy's past leads her back to the Reverend, who may be hiding a sinister secret. Come for the game, stay for a great performance by Daniel Radcliffe, and you can get every possible ending.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend is available on streaming services.
