The New York Attorney General is trying to get more information from the former president.

On Thursday, James had asked a Manhattan judge to impose a $10,000-per-day fine on Donald Trump for failing to comply with her lawful subpoena.

She asked the same judge to force the Chicago-based appraisal powerhouse to turn over documents she accused them of illegally withholding.

She said in a statement Friday night that the work for the Trump Organization is significant to the investigation.

According to court papers, the firm performed appraisals on three Trump-owned properties that James is investigating.

There is a property called Seven Springs in Westchester County.

The Washington Post reported in 2020 that court documents show that Trump received a $21.1 million deduction on his taxes in 2015. The office of James is looking into whether the value of the easement was inflated.

The Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles is a second property that the former president received a write-off on. James accused Trump of pocketing a federal tax benefit totaling more than $5 million, which she said was due to misleading valuations of the easement.

40 Wall Street is a skyscraper. The New York AG is looking into whether the value of the property was inflated due to a mortgage loan refinance.

The firm has a larger business relationship with the Trump Organization.

The appraisal firm was required to turn over all documents requested by James by October 2020.

A representative of the company could not be reached. Company lawyers said that the subpoenas were too broad and that they had already turned over all relevant documents.

James wants a $10,000-a-day fine. Donald Trump, his daughter and son are appealing the judge's February order that they give depositions.
