Dallas Mavericks' Luka Doncic gets 16th technical foul of season, faces 1-game ban

Unless the NBA office overturns the first quarter technical foul against him, Luka Doncic will be suspended for Sunday's regular-season finale.

Doncic was suspended for one game for his 16th technical foul of the season. After a routine review by the league office, Doncic had one other technical this season.

If the Mavs beat the Spurs on Sunday, they will know if they get the third or fourth seed in the conference. Dallas was in a tie with the Golden State Warriors for the lead.

At the end of the first quarter, the Mavs had a 36-13 lead over the Trail Blazers, and Doncic was upset that a foul was not called on his half-court heave. Doncic tried to get the attention of the referee while on his back, after he was undercut by Portland's Hughes on the play.

After getting up, Doncic walked across the court to talk to Tony Brothers, who was trying to hold him back. Brothers called Doncic for a technical problem.

I asked him how that was not a foul. Doncic offered an explanation to a Mavs official sitting on the media row. That is unfair. That is unfair.

Kidd was ejected from the Dallas road loss to the Washington Wizards on April 1 for two technicals.
