It is a good day for a college program to land a player who has drawn comparisons to them.
That is what happened to the Duke Blue Devil on Friday when Mgbako joined their recruiting class. He is the second five-star recruit to commit to Duke in the last two days.

Mgbako is a 5-star prospect and checks in at 6'7" and 185 lbs. He is the top small forward in his class and the top small forward in the state of New Jersey.
Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Memphis, Ohio State and Michigan were on the list at one point.
His ability to defend multiple positions, battle for rebound, shoot from the outside and get to the rim is what makes him stand out. His combination of size and athletic ability makes him a nightmare for opponents.
The Boston Celtics star is similar to Mgbako because of his ability to score from all over the floor.
I definitely want to play like him, but I am still trying to get there. I feel like it will come to me in time, and it is all about the fit for me. I am done with officials right now, but I may take a couple unofficials. I am not in a hurry. I could see myself making a decision next summer if I cut my list during the season. I am enjoying the process right now.
That process resulted in a significant victory for Duke, as they were able to land Mgbako, a key part of their offensive attack and overall team defense during his freshman season. He could go to the NBA after one year, but he is talented enough to lead the Blue Devil to the Final Four.
This is a notable recruiting development for Jon Scheyer, who is tasked with following in the footsteps of a legend. The only way he will be able to maintain Duke's status as an annual national title contender is by landing players like Mgbako.
If he lives up to his potential, Mgbako could go to the NBA after just one year, but he is talented enough to lead the Blue Devil to the Final Four.
