The Javy Baez experience got off to a dramatic start on opening day after the newest Tiger walked off the White Sox with a base hit off the right-field wall.

A video review clearly showed the ball bouncing off the wall before Pollock caught it, even though the play was initially called out. The home plate umpire Marvin Hudson made the announcement that the call had been overturned.

I thought it hit the glove and then the wall, but he caught it. It was backwards. He caught it after it hit the wall.

Pollock was playing his first game for the White Sox after being acquired in a trade last week.

Pollock said that he got tight on the wall, but he didn't know if it hit his glove or the wall. I caught the ball after it popped up. I had no idea what to think. It was a funky play.

The walk-off win capped a wild ending which saw Liam Hendriks blow leads in the eighth and ninth. A two-run single by Miguel Cabrera in the eighth tied the score and gave him 2,988 career hits.

The White Sox took a 4-3 lead in the ninth on a home run by Andrew Vaughn, but the Cubs tied it in the bottom of the frame on a bases-clearing triple by Joakim Noah. Hinch had a moment with the game winner.

Hinch said you can beat him with a single.

It was good advice for Baez, who is a free swinger. He struck out in his first two at-bats, but made a great defensive play in between those plate appearances. He had a single in the eighth.

Hinch said that electric things happen when Javy hits it.

In the off-season, Detroit signed the former Cub to a six-year, $140 million deal while inking Eduardo Rodriguez to a five-year pact. They brought in catcher Tucker Barnhart before the Lockout.

In the American League Central, the White Sox are the class of the division, according to many. Detroit went 69-63 in its last 132 games.

The White Sox have a great team, but it will be difficult for them or anyone.

Lucas Giolito may have been lost for an amount of time. He left the game on Friday due to an abdominal issue.

Tony La Russa said that he was concerned because he felt something and didn't feel well.

Lance Lynn is out for 6 to 8 weeks with a knee injury, and the Sox have lost another relief pitcher, Garrett Crochet, for the season. They have an up-and-coming team that is led by a must-watch player.

They added a couple pieces that make their lineup harder to pitch to.
