Will Smith Has Been Banned From Attending The Oscars For 10 Years

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences banned Will Smith from attending the Oscars and any other academy programs and events for the next 10 years for hitting Chris Rock.

The board decided that Mr. Smith would not be allowed to attend any Academy events or programs in person or virtually for a period of 10 years.

Rubin and Hudson acknowledged that they did not adequately address the incident during the broadcast.

This action we are taking today is a step towards protecting the safety of our performers and guests, and restoring trust in the Academy, they said.

Smith said in a statement that he accepted and respected the academy's decision.
