The Yankees and Judge have not been able to come to an agreement on a contract extension.

Brian Cashman said the team offered a seven-year, $213.5 million extension, which would have made the entire package just over $230 million.

When asked about his contract status, Judge deferred to Cashman.

Judge said he was not going to get into it right now. It happens if it does. I will see you after the game and we will talk about that. I think we will have a better update after the game.

Judge said that negotiations would continue until first pitch on Friday. In the Bronx.

This is the deadline. If it doesn't get done, we'll work on the one-year arbitration deal and move on from there. I don't want this to be a distraction for the team all year, we have so many things to focus on, you know, a lot of good things happening, and I don't want this to be a distraction for the team all year. After a good series, a good month, more talks.

The opening day is not over. That is the first pitch. The deadline is today. The Yankees countered $17 million against Judge's $21 million request for a contract for the 2022 regular season, which was the reason Judge was unable to agree on a deal.

Regardless of what happens with Judge's contract, it will not have an impact on the field, as Judge has stated himself.

He is the ultimate teammate. He is the biggest leader in that room. He wants nothing more than to be a part of the championship club and he is an amazing player that wants to go out and be great. Regardless of the outcome, nothing will change in the way that Aaron goes about his business. I believe that it won't have an effect on him. He has too solid of a makeup that it is not going to be an issue.

Judge said that getting into extension talks is a blessing. The thought of going down this route with the Yankees is very special. I know I was guaranteed this year. Contract extension is nice, but I have bigger things to focus on.
