It will never get old that Stephen Colbert has studied Lord of the Rings many times before on The Late Show.

Colbert launched into an impressive rundown of the importance of Earendel when he discovered it during a segment on space news.

The host says that the lead author of the paper called the star Earendel, which means "morning star" in old English.

It also inspired the name of the great half-elven mariner Eärendil, son of Tuor and Princess Idril, daughter of Turgon, and father of Elros and Elrond. NASA, return my calls!
