The California congressman told Fox News Digital that the purchase of a $6 million California mansion by Black Lives Matter should prompt a Department of Justice investigation.

Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, the national arm of the BLM movement, has come under increasing scrutiny over its handling of the tens of millions of dollars it has received in donations.

New York Magazine revealed this week that BLM secretly bought a $6 million mansion, which the group's leaders are said to call "Campus", and never disclosed it to the public. The magazine inquired about the house and the BLM reportedly sent a memo about the possibility of killing the story.

Who is in control of black lives?

It is time for the Department of Justice to investigate, says the congressman.

The disturbing information that we are learning is more than enough to warrant an investigation from the DOJ, and not the end of the story, according to Fox News Digital.

This definitely has the suggestion of misappropriation of charitable funds and an abuse of our nonprofit laws.

The purchase of the California house was separate from a transaction in which BLM transferred money to a Canadian nonprofit to buy a $3 million house.

Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors attacked New York Magazine for its reporting on a $6 million mansion that BLM purchased with charitable contributions.

She said the article in New York Magazine was a despicable abuse of a platform that was intended to provide truthful information to the public.

She said that a publication would allow a reporter with a proven and very public bias against her and other Black leaders to write a piece filled with misinformation and innuendo.

In May 2021, after the group's finances came under scrutiny, Cullors resigned from BLM and faced criticism for living an opulent lifestyle that included millions of dollars of personal real estate purchases.

BLM did not immediately return Fox News Digital's request for comment.
