Jon Morosi of the MLB Network says that the New York Yankees and Judge are still in contract talks. It is not clear if they will come to terms on a deal before the opening day deadline.

The Bronx Bombers will play the Boston Red Sox on Friday.

Judge will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2022.

The right fielder told reporters earlier this week that he was not focused on getting an extension done.

According to Dan Martin of the New York Post, Judge said that Yankee fans have not held a championship in the city in awhile.

It is unclear what type of deal Judge is looking for or what the Yankees are willing to offer, but Anthony Rizzo told reporters Thursday that his teammate should get a significant raise.

I talked to him a little bit about it. The value and worth of a person is very high in this game. He knows that he is a legitimateMVP candidate every year.

According to Spotrac, the highest-paid right fielder in baseball is Philadelphia's BryceHarper, who is making $27.5 million this year. Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers makes over twenty million dollars, while the Chicago Cubs veteran is earning over twenty million dollars.

Judge has been in the Yankees lineup since he was named the American League's Freshman of the Year.
