Since landing on the Red Planet, NASA's Mars Perseverance rover has made a fascinating discovery.
A keen-eyed netizen spotted the discarded remains of the rover's parachute in raw images that were taken on April 6, a timely reminder of how much ground NASA's rover has already covered.
NASA has yet to confirm the object is the rover's parachute.

The location and remains of the parachute were picked up in images taken by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shortly after the six-wheeled rover touched down on the Martian surface back in February 2021.
The location is just south of Perseverance and can be seen in NASA's handy live map. Perseverance's mast cam was able to pick out the jetsam more than a year after landing.
The Ingenuity Mars helicopter achieved its first flight back in April of 2021, and the rover has been covering a lot of ground lately.
