On Thursday, 7th April, a Boeing 757 skidded off the runway and split into parts after an emergency landing at San Jose Juan Santamar.

An emergency forced the return of a cargo flight from San Jose Juan Santamaria to La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City.

According to the Delfino, the crew declared an emergency and requested to return after flying over the San Carlos area. The aircraft entered into a holding pattern to dump fuel. The aircraft broke apart when it came to a stop on the runway.
