The opening of the new car factory in Austin, Texas, will be marked by an event called Cyber Rodeo.
The Texas plant should help the company keep up with consumer demand. New plants in Texas and Germany are expected to greatly increase the carmaker's production capacity.

A new battery pack will act as a structural component in the Model Y compact SUV. The Cybertruck pickup will be manufactured at the new Texas location, but it will be delayed until at least 2023.
In October, the company announced it was moving its corporate headquarters to Austin.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, officials in the county approved a gathering of up to 15,000 people.
The invite-only party will start at 4 pm local time and Musk will address the crowd at 9 pm, he said. Musk has shared photos and videos of the building with colorful light displays and car parts.
Customers took delivery of the first Model Y SUVs built in Europe at a similar event last month.
