Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg understands the plight of those who work from home. The founder of one of the world's largest companies is actually working from home. Like you or me, his home office is in the metaverse. The software update for the home will include a home office space, according to a post on Facebook. It looks like a dentist's office. You see, it's in virtual reality.

It is becoming clear that the future of work is going to look like the most boring virtual reality video game. It is less boot stamped on a human face forever and more expensive to use in search of a problem. It is true that most of us can do those tasks just fine, and that is what the metaverse office is for. You will get doing all these mundane tasks while wearing a Quest 2 headset.

For those who don't know, Meta's Horizon is a group of three social virtual reality apps. It includes user-created experiences, venues, and workrooms. They are similar to 3D social playplaces, where users create their own avatars and interact with each other, while keeping a four-foot personal boundary from each other. In February, Worlds and Venues had 300,000 users, compared to 10 million Quest 2 headsets sold. Some might say that the numbers are dismal. A company spokesman wouldn't say how many Meta employees use Workrooms in any capacity.

The concept of working in virtual reality is still relatively new. If you're curious about what kind of work applications are available in virtual reality for quest 2, there are only two of which are Facebook andInstagram. There are also apps for spreadsheets, visual collaboration and email.

If you want to know what it's like to read an email in virtual reality, Lifewire took one for the team. While reading emails can become grating in the real world, the Quest 2 speedruns the experience and gets very uncomfortable after half an hour.

What matters most is how the product is received by Meta's audience, and that is what Workplaces is about.

I don't see the point of it. Why do you need to work in a virtual world? One user wrote in the comments that it looks great for sure, but that's about it.

How old-fashioned and primitive. It looks like the 80's. Who will waste their time on this?

There is still more interest in virtual reality than ever before. More than 11 million headsets were sold in 2021, a 92.1 percent increase from the previous year. This week, the Meta Quest 2 hit stores. The best-selling virtual reality headset is the Quest 2, but that could change when Sony, Apple and other tech giants enter the space.

Meta plans to spend at least $10 billion on metaverse projects this year, and we don&t know how much has been spent on digital cubicles. WeWork went public at a valuation of $9 billion, although buying up companies may no longer be a viable growth strategy.
