The Singapore-based startup that runs a parenting community and direct-to-consumer product line has raised $22 million.
The round was led by East Ventures with undisclosed investors and included participation from Central Retail Corporation, a new backer, and a returning investor. Venture debt financing was part of the round.
The Parent Inc., formerly known as Tickled Media, is best known for the Asianparent, its parenting community, and also runs Mama's Choice, a manufacturer and seller of baby care products. When it raised its Series C, the company was covered by TechCrunch.
Along with its headquarters in Singapore, the company has offices in a number of other places. The company was started by founder and CEO Roshni Cheung.
There wasn't enough parenting information that Asian parents could relate to. Questions like "Is it safe to feed a three year old durian?" were not covered in books and websites.
LINE Southeast Asia was added as a shareholder by The Parentinc a few weeks ago. Other strategic investors in the company includeJD.com and SCB 10X, which helped build Mama's Choice presence in Indonesia and Thailand.
The new capital will be used to expand the Asianparent and Mama's Choice into three new markets before the end of 2022, including Vietnam and a U.S. launch.
