Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is on the way, and we get more excited with each trailer that drops for a glimpse at what's coming in Marvel Studios. To celebrate ticket release day, Raimi chatted with Fandango to tease what to expect in his first multiverse trip into the MCU.
Raimi spoke about the effects that the film will have on this one, but didn't say if we'll see any cameos. This is the first time that characters from our universe will experience other universes. Finding other realities, and how they rhyme with our own, or how they are completely the opposite, or variations of that, but Raimi is mum regarding a possible Professor X appearance. That's all I can say.
I've been asking kids on the playground since third grade if Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch are more powerful than each other. There could be a Doctor Strange out there that is more powerful than our Wanda, if you were to pit them against each other. Our Wanda here is more powerful than Wanda out there. So, because of the altered versions.
When asking who broke the multiverse, it's a tricky proposition. There are possibilities on who we can expect to see as the film's main villain. So, if I said Strange... I might be saying altered Strange if I answer this question. Same with Wanda and Mordo. At different times, I would say all of the above.
Raimi wasn't ruling out a reunion with his old cast after seeing Tobey Maguire again in the suit. I adore Tobey. I love him. Raimi said that he thinks all things are possible. I don't know if they would be interested in that right now. I don't know what they think about that. I haven't pursued that. He wouldn't mind at all if his current experience with Marvel Studios continued, for what it's worth. I would love to come back and tell another story.
