Are you ready for the Star Trek metaverse?

Fans are already angry about Paramount's marketing stunt, which is the launch of the NFT marketplace, a metaverse and annoying marketing stunt. The platform will bring Paramount's beloved entertainment entities, brands and characters to the metaverse.

The low, low price of the Star Trek NFTs will be similar to what has worked for big NFT projects in the past. There is only an 11 percent chance of a single ship looking like the Enterprise in packs. You can guarantee that you will get a cool ship by buying the admiral pack instead of the captain pack.

The first and all future seasons of Star Trek NFTs will be housed in Paramount's Star Trek Continuum, which is an Experiential hub.

What is the metaverse, and do I have to care?

Paramount's press release has a lot of words that add up to a hand wave.

This isn't the first time we've seen Star Trek. The brand has been put on the block in the form of digital Funko Pops and licensed offerings on other platforms. It feels like a slap in the face to everything that Star Trek is about when it happens. I'm pretty sure it's a coincidence that every video essayist uses Star Trek imagery to describe post-scarcity.

Paramount is going all in this time. It threatens Star Trek Continuum as just the beginning of Paramount.xyz, and it promises to add more franchises. That means we could see SpongeBob NFTs next. I guess that means I have gotten to the point in adulthood where I can see my childhood.
