Remember the kid who was following Musk's private jet on social media? The 19-year-old was offered $5,000 by the billionaire to stop doing it, but he refused, demanding higher pay.

There is an interesting theory that says that Musk bought more than 10 percent of the social media platform and then joined its board.

The creator of the flight tracking bot, Jack Sweeney, shared a graphic depicting Musk's stock purchases, which seem to have begun immediately after he refused the offer.

Did he start buying stock because of me telling him no?

Freedom of Tweets

It's possible that Musk is buying so many shares because of their beef, says Sweeney. Is it possible that Musk would try to bully or silence Sweeney? Or is he going to use his newfound weight to limit the number of people on the micro-messaging service?

Let's see how pro free speech Elon really is, one Sweeney follower commented in reply to the above.

Open Source

Musk's previous displays of pettiness, emotional sensitivity and endless drive for drama make Sweeney's theory compelling. It definitely sounds like Musk would do something to further troll the internet.

The move would undermine Musk's commitment to free speech. Musk has said that he hates the social network's algorithm and that it needs to be open source.

It will be hard to square with Musk's public commitment to free speech if the site moves against Sweeney after Musk gains significant control.

There is more on tracking rich folks.
