The Abs of Mark Wahlberg have left! The Oscar-nominated actor shows off his dramatic body transformation for his new movie.

TODAYTODAY

Mark Wahlberg completely transformed his body for his role in the movie, but not in the way you would expect. The actor put on 30 pounds to play the boxer-turned-priest, Stuart Long.

A 7,000 calories a day diet consisted of at least a dozen eggs, big bowls of rice and shakes for preparation for the role.

I had to put on 30 pounds in six weeks with 7,000 calories for the first two weeks and 11,000 calories for the final four weeks. The first meal was amazing because I hadn't eaten anything before that point. It's not a good idea to try to put on that amount of weight after you're already full.

He was not eating junk food to make gainz. He ate smaller meals with the goal of putting on weight.

He said that he gets to sit on the couch and eat ice cream and pizzas. There were a dozen eggs and a dozen pieces of bacon, two baked potatoes, a Porterhouse steak, two bowls of white rice, and a glass of olive oil. The first two weeks were high. There was a lot of food in the second two weeks. The last couple of weeks have kind of gotten as bloated as possible. It's not a lot of fun.

Lawrence Duran told E! that he was the chef for Wahlberg. News about what he was feeding the star to get in shape for the film.

The actor added mass weight gainer to his shakes.

Christina Meyer-Jax told TODAY Food that the chef was using a weight gainer powder that was dense in nutrition. Meyer-Jax said that abdominal weight gain, also known as Visceral fat, in the long run is not a healthy weight gain for those.

The worst part of having to eat when he was still full from his last meal was that it sounded like an aperitif. The actor continued working out while increasing his body fat.

I had to get up the appetite so I would try to lift as much as I could to get hungry. None of it was enjoyable. You have to eat again when you are full from the last meal.

Meyer-Jax said that when it comes to your health, you must always consider the quality of the calories you are consuming. She said the best way to approach healthy weight gain is to follow a program that includes healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, fruits and veggies.

Meyer-Jax said that this is not something that you should try at home, as Wahlberg is already back in fighting shape at his normal, lower weight, just in time for the movie's April 13 release date.

She said that Mark Wahlberg was doing this drastic metabolic move for a professional role and was medically monitored throughout. It is hardly ever sustainable for long term health for each person to react differently to this drastic shift.
