The parent company of products like Cash App and Tidal said in an SEC filing that a former employee downloaded certain reports without permission.

The data in the reports included the full name and account number of the customers, as well as the broker's portfolio value.

The reports did not include any personally identifiable information. Block says it is contacting approximately 8 million current and former customers in regards to the incident.

Cash App is committed to the security of customers and values customer trust, according to Danika Owsley. We know how these reports were accessed. Customers whose data was impacted are being contacted. We review and strengthen administrative and technical safeguards to protect information.
