The Worldwide Developers Conference will once again be an online-only event when it takes place from June 6th through June 10th. On June 6th, Apple will host an in-person session at Apple Park, with developers and students watching the keynote and State of the Union videos together, along with the online community. There will be details on how to apply soon.
In the past, WWDC has been a software-focused event where Apple details its upcoming updates toiOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS. Last year, Apple announced a number of software improvements, including SharePlay support for FaceTime, the ability to store IDs in digital form in Apple Wallet, and new privacy features with its iCloud Plus subscription service.
It doesn't mean that the software is always the focus. The launch of the new Mac Pro and HomePod, as well as updated iMacs and iPad Pro, have happened in the past. At Apple's conference in 2021, it was announced that the Mac lineup would be based on Apple Silicon. With a new M2 processor rumored to be coming this year, could we see the new chip teased or even announced?
