Smith is moving on after declaring for the NBA draft.
The move was expected since the 6&10 forward emerged as a candidate for the top spot this summer. He was projected to be the top pick by Jonathan Wasserman.
Smith was the seventh-best player in the recruiting class of 2021, so he didn't get drafted from obscurity.
The first two spots in the mock drafts were occupied by the two Duke players.
Smith began muscling in on the other players to make him the top player available.
In 34 games, the 18-year-old averaged 16.9 points, 7.4 boards and 1.0 blocks.
He had one of his best performances in the win over Alabama. He finished with 25 points, seven rebound, and four blocks, and he shot 3-of-8 from the field.
Smith was given a stock report by Wasserman, who was challenging Holmgren for the No. 1 slot.
What seemed like flashes of shooting and mid-range scoring early in the season have become a regular occurrence for Jabari Smith. Scouts are swayed by his consistent three-pointers and advanced rise-and-fire game inside the arcs.
The 18-year-old is still at 42.3 percent on 5.1 attempts. They are not all simple catch-and-shoot shots. He is using jab steps to get himself enough space to elevate for jumpers that defenders cannot effectively contest.
Smith has two pillars that set him apart from the rest of the prospects in the top three: He is an elite shooter and he has the ability to be a multipositional one-on-one.

Smith was not expected to gain much in terms of his draft stock by spending another year at auburn. Bruce Pearl thought he would be a one-and-done coach when he recruited him to the Tigers.
It can be hard to read how a player will rise or fall during the predraft process. Smith is unlikely to slip much further than No. 3 on draft night.
