Pedro Severino, a catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, has been suspended for 80 games without pay for taking a performance enhancing drug to treat infertility issues.

Major League Baseball said he took Clomiphene. The FDA approved the drug to treat infertility in women, but not in men.

He admitted to taking the drug in a statement through the players union.

He said that he and his wife had been trying to start a family since late 2020. I was prescribed a medication by a doctor to treat infertility issues. I now know that the medication contained Clomiphene.

He says that he accepts responsibility and won't challenge the suspension.

In his attempt to start a family, he made a mistake.

He apologized to his teammates.

He joined the team as a free agent. He has played for the Nationals and Orioles. His best season was with Baltimore. He had 11 homers and 46 RBIs in a career high 409 plate appearances.
