Romney said that he did not expect to agree with every decision she made on the Court, but that he believed she met the standard of excellence and integrity.
Romney is one of three Republican senators who have said they will vote to confirm Jackson, the first Black woman to be nominated to the high court.
Collins supported Jackson last week. On Monday evening, the Senate held a procedural vote to bring Jackson's nomination out of a committee deadlock. The Senate Judiciary Committee was unable to reach a decision on Jackson's nomination.
Democrats and the White House were hoping to get some Republican votes for a Supreme Court confirmation vote later this week.
Romney was seen as a swing vote for Jackson. Republican opposition to Jackson has led to his support. Most Republicans said last week that they would vote against Jackson for a seat on the high court.
Romney did not say if he would vote for Jackson after he met with her.
