2 'key' executives have resigned from Truth Social, Trump's troubled social-media venture, report says
  • Donald Trump's social-media venture, Truth Social, has struggled since its launch.

  • Two key execs have resigned from the company behind it.

  • After he was kicked off social media, Trump decided to create Truth Social.

Two executives have resigned from the startup behind Truth Social, which was launched in February by former president Donald Trump.

Josh Adams, technology chief, and Billy Boozer, head of product development, have resigned from their roles, according to two sources.

The launch of the Truth Social app on February 20 was plagued by technical difficulties with wannabe users unable to create accounts or placed on lengthy waitlists. Direct messaging is one of the features that are unavailable.

According to two sources familiar with the company, Adams and Boozer's apparent exits could affect Truth Social's efforts to compete with mainstream platforms.

When Adams and Boozer quit their jobs at Truth Social, it was not known whether the company had found replacements for them or whether they continued to work at the company.

The owner of Truth Social didn't respond to Insider's requests for comment. Adams could not be reached for comment.

The person declined to speak to the news agency. Adams and representatives for both Trump and TMTG didn't respond to the publication's request for comment.

After he was banned from several social-media sites in the wake of the Capitol siege, Trump decided to create his own app. Trump has accused the platforms of censoring free speech by removing his accounts.

The Home Depot, NASCAR, the US Patent and Trademark Office, and the FBI are some of the clients of Daring Bit Assembly, co-founded by Adams from Alabama.

A native of Alabama, Boozer founded Boo and has worked in a number of other tech roles.

Truth Social was ranked 35th on the Apple App Store's social-media rankings. The rating is based on 46,600 reviews. Downloads of Truth Social had dropped 95 percent since it was launched, according to data reported last week.

Truth Social is only available in the US. On its website, Truth Social says it is coming soon.

Trump has posted just once on Truth Social

Rosie Bradbury wrote that Truth Social was like a conservative ghost town that had been overrun by bots.

The user interface of Truth Social looks a lot like that of a social networking site.

Some news outlets, like the UK's Daily Mail, have profiles on the app.

There is only one post on Trump's personal account on the app. Prominent Republicans lawmakers and conservative commentators don't seem to have an account on the app
