The South Korean defense minister made comments about the country's missile capabilities, which the sister of North Korea's leader criticized.
According to the Associated Press, Kim Yo Jong said in a statement shared on North Korea state media that he dare mention a pre-emptive strike at a nuclear weapons state.
The statement came in response to the Defense Minister of South Korea saying on Friday that the country had the ability to launch precision strikes at North Korea.
The comments come after North Korea completed a successful launch of its largest intercontinental ballistic missile on March 24, as part of a flurry of recent missile tests by the country. South Korean and US officials condemned the launch of the intercontinental missile by North Korea.
Kim Yo Jong is the most powerful woman in North Korea. She became a member of the country's top policy-making body in September. She was said to be the de-facto second-in-command.
