New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu roasted Donald Trump at a dinner in Washington.
The Gridiron Club dinner, an annual event that hasn't been held since the Pandemic, was addressed by Sununu. The dinner is put on by a prestigious journalistic organization and draws politicians from both parties.
Sununu said that Trump had experience and was likely to be the next president.
I'm just kidding! Sununu continued, prompting laughter from the crowd.
The press often asks if I think Donald Trump is crazy. I don't think he is so crazy that you would put him in a mental institution. Sununu said that if he were in one, he wouldn't get out.
The office of Trump did not respond to the request for comment.
The Washington Post reported that there were no Republicans from the House at the dinner, which Trump spoke at.
Jake Lahut reported in February that a former Trump campaign manager said he was given an assignment to oust Sununu. Trump was very unhappy with the governor and he wasn'tloyal to him.
In January, Sununu said he didn't need an endorsement from anyone to get reelected.
