Wojciechowski: Tiger returning at Masters is a fluid situation (1:32)

It is possible for Tiger Woods to make his return to the Masters only 14 months after his car crash. (1:32)

Let the Tiger Watch begin.

Tiger Woods was not ready to say on Sunday that he would play in the 86th Masters, which is scheduled to begin Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club. Woods said in a statement that he would be arriving here Sunday to continue practicing and preparing to play. He showed up at Augusta National to practice.

It would be his first appearance in a regular tour event in 17 months, after he was seriously injured in a car wreck outside Los Angeles. He said doctors had to amputate his leg.

Television coverage and more will be offered in the year 2022.

On April 13, 1997, Woods won the Masters.

Course work begins

Reporters were not the only ones waiting for Woods.

Joe LaCava was there about an hour before Woods. When reporters tried to get information from LaCava, he responded, "Hey, Joe, how's your family?" How is your health?

The Open Championship winner walked from the parking lot to the practice area.

He joked to reporters that he was not the person they were waiting for.

Augusta National Golf Club officials began to escort patrons out of the area because the course was closed to the public.

Woods showed up wearing a peach Nike shirt, black pants, black shoes and a black hat. He got a hug from Billy and fist-bumped a pro.

As Woods hit nearly a full bag of balls, Im, who was working to the right of him in the practice area, kept watching to see how Woods was doing. Canada's Mackenzie Hughes, Max Homa, and Jason Kokrak were also in the area with him.

Woods was done twenty minutes later. They were whisked away in a golf cart. He was headed to the course to play, but it was closed to the media so it was not clear how much work he would put in.

What's with the shoes?

Woods has caused a stir because of what was on his feet in the practice area on Sunday, but he has yet to say whether he is playing in the Masters.

Woods has a relationship with Nike. He was wearing traditional golf shoes while warming up on Sunday. The last time Woods played in the Masters, he was wearing black shoes.

The director of consumer marketing for FootJoy told Tom VanHaaren on Sunday night that players of all types, from Tour players to amateurs at every level, chose to wear FootJoy to help them play their best.

Nike officials didn't respond immediately to the request for comment.

Tiger arrives in Augusta

Tracking Woods plane is a thing. The letters and numbers on the tail of his plane were recorded all day Tuesday as he traveled to Augusta. It happened again Sunday after he said he was going to the site of the first major.
