A former US official and expert on Russian President Vladimir Putin said he has been trying to paint the crisis in Ukraine as a proxy war and more countries need to stand up against him.

As Putin is making this a proxy war, he is saying to everyone else that this is like the Cold War or Korea. This isn't the case. Putin decided to invade another country. It is a post-imperial land grab. The former senior director for Europe and Russia at the United States National Security Council told CBS's Face the Nation on Sunday that it was based on history, his grievances, and his view of Russia's place in Europe.

The United States and Russia are in a war for Ukraine, according to Hill.

President Zelenskyy is making a massive appeal for more help from the United States, from the West, and from other allies. Hill said that other international actors need to step up.

She said that they had Japan and South Korea. There have been protestations about the conflict in the UN General Assembly from countries.

She said that under the current circumstances, there is no way that Putin wants to loosen his grip on power.

Zelenskyy is looking for more concrete agreements with other countries since agreements with Russia in the past have been meaningless.

The invasion is viewed as a global issue if more countries speak up.
