The New York Yankees and the New York Mets have swapped pitchers.

The Yankees will receive Castro from the Mets in exchange for Rodriguez.

The Mets were set to enter the regular season with a right-hand heavy relief corps.

Rodriguez gives manager Buck Showalter a lefty pitcher to use. The 30-year-old held left-handed hitters to a.203/.289/.279 slash line with one home run in 59-bats last season.

Rodriguez is limited to getting lefties out. He had a slash line of.340/.380/.446 in 2021. There are more than enough righties to keep them at bay.

Castro has a 3.93 earned run average in 262 appearances with the Mets and Orioles since the start of the season. He has thrown at least 70 in each of the last three seasons.

Castro had his most strikeouts in a single season in his single season with the Mets.

Castro will be a multi-inning relief pitcher for the Yankees. If he wants to give his other arms a day off during the season, he could use him as a setup man.
