Carsen Edwards is going to sign a two-year contract with the Pistons.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Salt Lake City Stars are planning to get him from the G League.
After being taken in the second round of the draft, he played two seasons with the Celtics. He was traded to the Memphis Grizzles before the season but was not with the team for training camp.
The 5'11'' point guard found a home in the G League, where he finished second in scoring and flashed off-the-bounce creativity. Edwards earned a second chance to make an NBA impact after the Stars finished 9-23 in the G League.
It is unlikely that there are any guarantees attached to the contract. The deal will keep him with the team for the rest of the season, so he can participate in off-season work and possibly play in an NBA Summer League in 2022-23.
The Pistons have a wide-open depth chart. If he keeps scoring in the G League, he could easily become a reserve next season.
