As the city deals with an increase in COVID-19 cases, the factory will remain closed for another day. According to a company memo, employees were told to stay home on Sunday to comply with the city's COVID restrictions.

According to a previous report, production at the Shanghai plant would resume on Monday, April 4th, as some stay-at- home orders were expected to end. There is no word on when the city will lift the movement restrictions in the eastern part of the city.

Tesla first shuttered its Shanghai plant on March 28th

On March 28th, the first day of the city's two-stage lock down, the factory was shut down for just four days. The factory will be closed for a week. The factory in Shanghai was closed for two days in March due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.

The largest factory in the world is in the Chinese city of Shanghai, and it makes around 6,000 Model 3 and 10,000 Model Y vehicles a week. In the first quarter of 2022, the company reported a new record of over 300,000 vehicle deliveries, despite CEO Musk calling it a difficult quarter due to supply chain disruptions. The company is opening a new plant in Austin, Texas this week, as well as a factory in Berlin, Germany last month.
