The internet has been centralized thanks to the role played by Jack Dorsey, who stepped down as CEO of Twitter last year. The cultural impact of the social media giant is unquestioned. A large portion of what goes viral on other social sites begins on the micro-blogging site. It has an outsized impact on what makes the news because it is a hub for media folks.
The idea of decentralization on the internet has been promoted by Dorsey, who has pushed for an open-sourced social network standard in 2019.

When he stepped down from the micro-messaging service, he said he would have more time to focus on the digital payments company Square and its aim to create decentralized financial services.
As much as he might want to decentralize the internet now, he is still worth billions of dollars on the back of his oopsie.
