A personal assistant to several Russian oligarchs said he witnessed the men break down in tears when their assets were frozen.
The news was first reported by the Mirror.
Western countries have taken action against Russia, including targeting some of its wealthiest businessmen, because of the unprovoked war in Ukraine.
The personal assistant, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, told The Mirror that she had had to endure hearing them in tears because they couldn't get on board a private jet or book a holiday.
The assistant works for a group of people who live in the UK. A third of the residents are Russian, according to The Mirror. It is considered to be one of the most exclusive private residential addresses outside of London.
Some of the oligarchs had to ask staff to pay for their cabs because their executive accounts had been closed.
The assistant said it was hard to have any sympathy. She said that it doesn't matter to them if people die in Ukraine.
Sanctions have been applied to the family of Gennady Timchenko, whose wife and daughters have been impacted by the restrictions.
The assistant told The Mirror that the families care about themselves and how the sanctions are affecting their lifestyle.
They said that it was good to see them adjusting to their new place in the world.
