The assets of Russian billionaires have been seized by governments due to sanctions levied against them by Western countries.

The family of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as the wealthiest businessmen in the country, have been hit by the sanctions.

The actions taken against key Russian figures aimed to choke off the country's ability to access critical cash reserves and cut it off from the world. Russian billionaires have had their properties and jets seized.

The whereabouts of the two superyachts, worth more than $1 billion, have been scrutinized and monitored in recent weeks. He was the target of a suspected poison attack, and was spotted at peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Here is a look at what has been seized so far.

Superyachts

Many of the superyachts are worth millions of dollars. Some of the Russian oligarchs are untraceable, despite the fact that authorities have tried to seize them. At least nine superyachts owned by Russian tycoons switched off their tracking systems.

Amore Vero

Amore Vero was seized by French authorities on March 3.

The US, UK and EU have imposed sanctions on Sechin.

Lena and Lady M

Italy seized two boats. Gennady Timchenko's family have also been placed under sanction. Forbes says that the second superyacht seized is owned by Russia's wealthiest businessman, Alexei Mordashov.

The EU described Timchenko as a long-time acquaintance of Putin. The UK and the US have imposed sanctions on him.

The UK and the EU have imposed sanctions on Mordashov, who they say is benefiting from his links to Russian decision-makers.

Sailing Yacht A

The megayacht was seized by Italian authorities and is worth $578 million.

Sailing Yacht A is the largest sailing yacht in the world with eight decks.

EuroChem Group was founded by Melnichenko, who is worth $11 billion according to Forbes.

Valerie

Spanish authorities seized a person. The Prime Minister did not name the owner in his speech. The yacht is worth more than $150 million, according to two sources.

The CEO of a Russian defense conglomerate was named in US sanctions after Russia invaded Ukraine. Chemezov's wife, son, and stepdaughter are targets of the most recent US sanctions.

Crescent

Two weeks after Amore Vero was seized by France, Crescent was seized by Spain.

The yacht is worth $600 million.

Lady Anastasia

On March 15th, Spain detains Lady Anastasia, which is owned by Alexander Mikheev.

The CEO of the Russian state-owned military weapons company is Mikheev. The US imposed sanctions on him on March 15.

A Ukrainian crew member tried to sink the yacht in Mallorca on February 26.

Phi

After mooring in London for an awards ceremony worth $50 million, Phi was seized by the UK.

The National Crime Agency did not reveal the name of the owner but said the yacht is worth $38 million.

Axioma

The $75 million superyacht was seized by the government of Gibraltar.

The owner of Russia's largest steel-pipe-maker is a man with an estimated net worth of $1 billion.

Properties

The building complex of Alexei Mordashov was seized in Portisco, Sardinia, Italy.

Swiss authorities broke their neutral status to adopt sanctions and took away a mountain home.

The villa of Alisher Usmanov, worth $19 million in Sardinia, and the mansion of Oleg Savchenko, worth $3 million in Tuscany, were seized by Italy.

Some properties in the UK have been frozen because they are owned by people who have been blacklisted. The mansion in Belgrave Square, London was occupied by squats on March 14.

Jets

The two jets belonging to Eugene Shvidler were seized by the UK. On March 24, Shvidler was added to the UK sanctions list, which said he had close business ties to Roman Abramovich.

Shvidler was a partner in the acquisition of oil giant Sibneft through an auction in 1995, but stepped down as chairman of the investment and asset management company Millhouse.
