A top health official in New York City is facing backlash after she called White mothers and black and Hispanic mothers in a series of posts.

Rep. She's reducing mothers because of a function.

The chief medical officer at the New York City Department of Health made comments about the city's birth equity initiative in a series of tweets.

Babies born to Black and Puerto Rican mothers in this city are three times more likely to die in their first year of life than babies born to whites.

The first chief medical officer for the department was hired in February last year and he is also the deputy commissioner for the Center for Health Equity and Community Wellness.

The doctor was accused of being divisive by several social media users.

White mothers are called birthing people and black and Puerto Rican mothers are called Mothers, according to one user.

A former New York City mayoral candidate wrote that his mother was delivered by a white woman under a sink on Stillman Street in the 1920's. How ridiculous.

The DOH apologized for inadvertently gendering Black and Puerto Rican birthing people, according to the New York Post.

The governor of New York declared a public health crisis in the state.

The term "birthing people" has been emphasized by several Democrats, including Rep. Cori Bush.

Black birthing people and babies die every day because our doctors don't believe in our pain. My children were close to becoming a statistic. I almost became a statistic. I testified about my experience. Hear what we have to say. Believe us. Bush wrote in a tweet that nobody has for so long.

Bush said that when we talk about birthing people, we are being inclusive. It is that simple. We use gender neutral language when talking about pregnant women because it is not just cis- gender women who can give birth. Every body has reproductive freedom.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been mocked for using the term menstruating person instead of women during an interview.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams' office and the New York City Department of Health did not respond to Fox News immediately.
