The first night of WrestleMania 38 was covered by Bleacher Report.

It is putting a lot of pressure on itself to deliver a memorable show because it has been called the most stupendous two-night WrestleMania in history.

Night 1 has seven matches and a talk-show segment featuring Kevin Owens and Stone Cold Steve Austin to close the pay-per-view.

Both women's title matches as well as the SmackDown Tag Team Championship bout and the least mysterious opponent in the history of WWE will be on Saturday's half of "Mania".

Let's take a look at what is happening on the first night of the show.

After the two-hour pre-show and the usual song and dance to get the main show started, Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boog made their way out to battle The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships in the first official match of WrestleMania 38.

The former intercontinental champion came out of the gate strong and stayed on Jey Uso. Jimmy and Jey started controlling the pace after they cornered him.

The Usos kept the babyface isolated until he was able to tag in his opponent to clean the house. Boogs hurt his knee when he tried to hold both Usos on his shoulders, so Nakamura was left to fend for himself for quite some time.

Jimmy and Jey finished him off with The One D for the pin after hitting a few moves. This was a decent match, but it did not feel like a big match. This was something we could have seen on the show.

When you look at how light the tag team division is at the moment, this feud might not be over.

There are notable moments and observations.

    • WWE did an entire two-hour pre-show without putting on any matches. It could have just been an hour and covered the same ground.
    • Michael Cole pointed out how this is the first time Samantha Irvine has been the ring announcer at a WrestleMania. She will probably appreciate that when she hears it back.
    • Nakamura and Boogs finally coordinated their gear to look like a real team.
    • Boogs hit a nice delayed vertical suplex at one point, but he only held it for a few seconds. After seeing Bandido hold somebody for over a minute at ROH Supercard of Honor, it's hard to be as impressed with a few seconds.

Happy was accompanied by Madcap Moss to the ring for his match. Many fans went into this match hoping that this would be the final chapter of the story, as these two men have faced each other over a dozen times in different situations.

The Scottish Warrior tried to get the upper hand with some big punches, but he did not go down without a fight because he was a former Golden Gloves boxer.

They had a good pace for a few minutes, but then they slowed it down after Corbin dominated the action. McIntyre hit a spinebuster because of an accidental distraction from Madcap.

McIntyre tried to kill Madcap with a sword, but he cut two of the ring ropes instead.

This was the best match that McIntyre and Corbin have had during this feud. They had good physical contact and helped each other look.

There are notable moments and observations.

    • After the previous match, the announcers talked about keeping us updated on Boogs. It appears that he may have suffered a real injury to his leg. Let's hope he makes a speedy recovery if that is the case.
    • McIntyre should have had a bigger entrance for this match. WWE needs to start portraying him as a big star again if he is ever going to return to the hunt for a world title.
    • Corbin always makes the Deep Six look good. He hits it dead center every single time.
    • McIntyre hitting a big dive over the top rope onto Corbin and Madcap was a pleasant surprise.
    • McIntyre is officially the first person to kick out of The End of Days from Corbin.

Rey and Dominik Mysterio made their way out to a warm welcome as they prepared to take on The Miz and his friends.

The Miz and Rey decided to start their teams. Paul distracted Rey long enough for The A-Lister to get the upper hand.

Rey was in the ring with Paul for a few moments before The Miz and Dom came in. The heels cut the ring in half to keep Dominik isolated. They did not cut the ring in half as McIntyre did.

The crowd booed more than they would have thought possible after Paul hit Rey with a Three Amigos suplex. Rey and Dom hit him with a double 619 followed by two frog splashes, but The Miz spoiled their ending by making a blind tag and hitting Rey with his finisher for the win.

The Miz hit Paul with the Skull Crushing Finale while they were celebrating. We may have watched him turn babyface when the crowd popped.

As annoying and controversial as Paul can be, there is no denying that he put in the work to make sure he did not look bad in the ring. He held his own and had a couple of impressive moments.

This was a typical celebrity match, but Rey and The Miz being veterans made it shine a little more. Expectations for this were low, so it is safe to say that this bout exceeded them.

There are notable moments and observations.

    • WWE made sure to give the ring crew plenty of time to replace the ropes by playing a couple of video packages.
    • The Mysterios both had awesome gear for this match.
    • Paul was wearing the world's most expensive Pokemon card around his neck like a medal.
    • At one point, Paul did the splits and showed off some surprising flexibility.
    • Dom hit a nice arm drag/headscissor combo to both The Miz and Paul. It was very reminiscent of a move his father has used a million times.

Gable Steveson was introduced by McMahon between matches. We got to the Raw women's title bout after this wave.

The women were given special entrances. Before she came out, she had a video play that was inspired by the comic books.

Neither woman rushed to lock up when the bell rang. They received a huge applause from the crowd before Bianca extended her hand as a sign of respect. It was MzEll slapped it away. The Manhandle Slam was hit byBecky after a quick counter.

Bianca had to kick out several more attempted pins after escaping a repeat of SummerSlam. The EST was unable to make her tap out. Big Time Becks sent her opponent into the steel steps after taking the fight out of the ring.

Bianca took a Mandhandle Slam onto the steps after failing to win with a 450 splash. They kept the fight close until the end when Bianca hit the knockout. The crowd roared as the belt was handed to The EST.

Fans were expecting this to be similar to SummerSlam, but with Bianca winning. Thankfully, that wasn't the case. They got a lot of time to make sure this was a great match.

Even though this match had a bit of both styles, it was not a technical clinic or a high-flying showcase. This felt like a fight with a lot of aggression. The women were trying to put each other away so that they wouldn't have to work on a routine together. They made it seem real.

This was the first time that this bout felt worthy of being on the card. It was as close to perfect as you can get.

There are notable moments and observations.

    • Becky had her own special entrance that was kind of like the opening before every Marvel movie.
    • Big Time Becks's new haircut looked great. She should be thanking Bianca.
    • Becky and Bianca's ring gear was on a different level. They both went all out this year.
    • Everything from the video package to the special entrances to the brutality of the match made this a definite highlight of the entire weekend.
    • Belair borrowed a move from Colt Cabana in this one.

The Visionary came to the ring looking like the happiest man on the planet after watching the video package. He had a choir group sing on stage.

After the lights went down, the music hit and he made his way out to a huge pop from the crowd. He looked happy to be back in front of the crowd, but he did not seem to share their feelings.

The American Nightmare was in control of the first few minutes. The Visionary got in a few good shots before he and Rhodes started fighting.

They played to the crowd, sold the big spots and made each other look like a million bucks in a big match wrestling. Rhodes was the perfect choice to be the first opponent.

The story seemed to be that these two were equally matched. They showed each other that they knew each other's plan. This was not a one-sided fight. He had to work for his win.

After both men failed to put each other away with several of their biggest moves, Rhodes picked up the victory by hitting the Cross Rhodes twice followed by a series of jabs with a Bionic Elbow and a third Cross Rhodes to seal the deal. This was a great way for him to come back.

It is great to see The Grandson of a Plumber back in the ring and it is going to be interesting to see what he does next.

    Grade: A

There are notable moments and observations.

    • WWE couldn't keep Rhodes' return a secret but chose to not mention it until he appeared. This is similar to what happened with CM Punk in AEW. Everybody knew he was coming but AEW played dumb until his music hit.
    • Rhodes doing a cartwheel for no reason was pretty funny.
    • The spot when they tumbled over the top rope to the floor because they kept reversing a suplex looked nasty.
    • Rollins was sent flying over the announce table when Rhodes hit a suicide dive. It looked great.
    • Both men teasing a Pedigree was a fun moment, but the springboard cutter Rhodes hit a moment later was the best spot in the match.

After a long break with several video packages and a Hall of Fame acknowledgment, the woman known as the "Rowdy" woman made her way to the ring to challenge Charlotte for the title.

As soon as they were locked up, it was obvious that this was going to be a physical exchange. They weren't trying to make anything look pretty. This was to make it look like they were fighting.

The Queen focused a lot of her offense on the leg. Rowdy Ronda focused on dishing out as much damage as possible and used a more comprehensive approach to her offense.

They did a good job of making this feel competitive, but it didn't reach the level that WWE was hoping for. It was hard to say what was missing, but it felt like there was something that needed to push it over the edge. Maybe it went a little too long, or maybe it just fell short of the two bouts that preceded it.

One of the top three matches of the night was this one. They worked hard to make sure this was not just another chapter in their feud. When the dust had settled, she retained her title with a big boot.

    Grades: B+

There are notable moments and observations.

    • Pat McAfee and Michael Cole confirmed Boogs did indeed suffer a legitimate injury in his match and would require surgery. Let's hope he makes a full recovery.
    • Rousey looked more confident than she did in the Royal Rumble and subsequent appearances. It seems like she found her groove again after taking more than a year away.
    • The moment when Charlotte hit a spear looked great because it appeared as if she came out of nowhere. They had the perfect camera angle for it.
    • Rousey's upper chest was already forming welts from some of Charlotte's chops.
