Christian Eriksen scores for Brentford against Chelsea in the Premier League
Christian Eriksen scored Brentford's second goal to help Brentford win at Chelsea for the first time since 1939

Frank said that he could be the club's greatest signing ever when he arrived in January.

It was a claim made after the deal that brought him back into football after he suffered a cardiac arrest playing for the Danes.

He felt like he was gone for five minutes. It was a joy to see this popular 30-year-old fit and healthy again, never mind restarting a playing career many feared was over.

Frank predicted a 4-1 win for the Bees against the Blues, and he was proved correct as the result was one of the best in their history.

Midfield maestro reinvigorated

After scoring for the Danes in their 4-2 loss to the Netherlands last weekend, he got on target again in his first game back at Parken Stadium, when Serbia were beaten.

The moment Frank had in mind when he signed Eriksen was in the 54th minute.

The way the visitors had dominated the first 45 minutes did not merit a lead they did not deserve, but just moments after Antonio Rudiger had given them a lead they did not deserve, Vitaly Janelt had just hammered home an equalizing goal.

Were the people at Brentford happy with that? Not a lot. And definitely not Eriksen.

With Bryan Mbeumo's pace and energy to arrive in the penalty area with perfect timing, Eriksen received his pass and lifted a finish high over Mendy at the Shed End.

As he raced into the corner to join the ecstatic celebrations of the fans of the other team, he had a smile on his face.

It was the first time since 1939 that the Bees had beaten the Blues. They were humiliated by the Bees.

Chelsea 1-4 Brentford: Thomas Frank says win against Chelsea is best result of season

Quality, stature and self-belief

Frank hoped that the impact he would have would be backed up by the statistics.

They were only three points off the bottom three when they lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle United in February. The only positive note from a day of real disappointment was the return of Eriksen as a substitute.

Since then, the team has won three games in a row, all of which have been started by Eriksen. He failed a test for Covid-19 and missed the game.

The Football News Show: Is Eriksen is the best deal of the window?

It would be unfair to suggest that this was a one-man show for Eriksen. Every player made their contribution to a stunning result that could have been even more emphatic than the score suggests.

Quality, stature and self-belief are what Eriksen gives.

The moments that make a difference are what the players look to him for leadership and guidance. They know that he has done it at the highest level.

They can watch him in action, his comfort and confidence patrolling the middle of the field unconcerned by the elite company, such as N&Golo Kante, he may be up against.

The old class is increasing all the time and the goals are coming.

A glory day for Brentford

The spirit that Brentford are showing is incredible, but to see Christian Eriksen cap it off is quite magnificent.

He loves football so much that he can still play it. He is not being denied and we are not being denied the spectacle that he provides.

Frank wanted all the value he could get when he brought Eriksen to Brentford.

The Bees will survive in the premier league, a great achievement, and will be helped by the arrival of Eriksen, who will have revived the enthusiasm of the team.

From an excellent start to the season, they have been able to build on that stock of points.

The player repaid his manager in kind for the confidence and belief Frank showed in him.

This was a great day for the Bees and their fans, as they can now look forward to a second season in the top flight.
