Lamar Jackson will have to wait for a contract extension.

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback told the franchise he wants to wait until the season is over to negotiate a new deal, according to Pro FootballTalk's Mike Florio.

Jackson was rumored to want to leave the Ravens because he hadn't received an extension. On Wednesday, the reigning Most Valuable Player said that he has no plans to leave Baltimore.

I love my Ravens I don’t know who the hell putting that false narrative out that I’m having thoughts about leaving stop tryna read my mind🙄

Steve Bisciotti discussed Jackson's contract status earlier this week. He said the 25-year-old probably wouldn't sign a new contract before the campaign.

According to Hensley, Bisciotti said that.

"The kid is so obsessed with winning a Super Bowl, that I think deep down, he doesn't think he's worthy. I think he wants that to say, 'Now, I deserve to be on top.' People can speculate any way they want. I don't think he is turned on by money that much and he knows it's coming one way or the other."

Jackson's fifth-year option is worth $23 million. If he doesn't agree to a long-term extension, the Ravens could franchise-tag him in 2023.

The two sides are likely to agree on a deal. Eric DeCosta, the general manager of the Ravens, said last year that he would be proud to have Jackson as one of his sons.

Jackson is in line to get a huge extension similar to that of Josh Allen, Deshaun Watson, and the others. Allen agreed to a six-year, $258 million deal with the Buffalo Bills, while the other two agreed to four-year, $160 million deals with the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns, respectively.

A four-year career is what the first-round pick has had. He completed 64.4% of his passes for 2,882 yards and 16 touchdown in 12 games last season. He had 767 yards and two scores.
