  • Zelenskyy wants Western allies to send more offensive weapons to his country.

  • The US, Germany, and Australia will send armored vehicles to Ukraine.

  • If Ukraine is going to defeat Russia, it needs more offensive weapons.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged Western allies to send more offensive weapons to his country since Russia began its invasion.

We don't want a million of quality bulletproof vests or special brand helmets. Zelenskyy told Fox News that he wanted to defend his country.

Zelenskyy asked NATO to either donate or sell 500 tanks. Ukraine asked for a small amount of your tanks to be given to them.

Western governments seem to be responding to his call.

A German defense ministry spokesman told CNN on Friday that Germany had approved the delivery of 56 combat tanks to Ukraine. The modified Soviet-era Pbv-501 is one of the first heavy armor that has been made available to the Ukrainian forces.

The German-origin IFVs can be fitted with a range of turrets and weigh 13 tonnes. Defense Brief said that the earmarked vehicles are with an arms supplier in the Czech Republic, but they need the permission of Berlin to send them to Ukraine.

German officials offered 5,000 helmets in January, but Ukrainian officials criticized them for being too low.

We had to change our course in Germany by 180 degrees because Ukraine needed our military support, we tried everything to avoid this war, but it was Putin who decided to do the opposite, and now we are delivering weapons to Ukraine.

Australian Bushmaster armored vehicles would be sent to Ukraine, following a request from Zelenskyy, according to The Strategist. The Bushmaster is a four-wheeled, armed vehicle with up to 10 infantry dismounting it to go into action.

The CEO of a British risk intelligence firm told Insider that Western allies have supported Ukraine by mainly supplying defensive weaponry.

We thought that Ukraine would be fighting an insurgency by now. They are still fighting a conventional war against Russia, and we have not equipped them for that.

Sending the handheld systems is useful, but they can't go on the offensive with these weapons. You can't defend forever, right?

A recent report by non-partisan think tank The Atlantic Council said that the West needed to rethink the types of weapons being delivered to Ukraine.

In order to win a war against Russia, Ukraine needs large-scale deliveries of offensive weapons, such as tanks, artillery, and multiple launch rocket systems.

A government official in Washington told The New York Times on Friday that the US will work with allies to transfer Soviet-made tanks to Ukrainian forces.

The US helped deliver tanks to Ukraine for the first time since Russia invaded.

The US rejected an offer from Poland to transfer Soviet-era warplanes to Ukraine, with the Pentagon saying it could pose serious concerns for the entire NATO alliance.

A new $300 million package of security aid to Ukraine was announced by the Defense Department on Friday.

Zelenskyy has been critical of continued delays in weapons delivery. Experts say that the armored vehicles promised by Germany could take weeks to arrive on the battlefield.

Zelenskyy questioned whether Western governments were playing games.

If we can see that the process of transferring those weapons is getting slower, people will ask the question. He asked if it was really true.

Maybe there is a game behind it. I don't want to believe that some of our partners are playing games.
