During an event at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump told the Gays for Trump supporter that they did not look gay.

In a video posted online, the former president addressed a crowd at a Michigan Republican congressional candidate's event.

After someone in the crowd shouts the group's name, Trump asks, "Where's Gays for Trump?"

We are over here. The person in the crowd said gays for Trump.

The crowd erupted in laughter when the former president pointed at the person and said "you don't look gay".

As the laughter dies down, Trump says, "We did great with the gay population."

The founder of the Gays for Trump organization told Newsweek that people in the group probably wouldn't look gay because it's a stereotype. Some of us might look gay.

Otherwise, it was a suit and tie event, so unless one of us was wearing a joke suit, I don't know.

The Gays for Trump is a nationwide movement full of various types of gays and the gay community has a lot of diversity.

During his time in office, the administration was accused of harmful policies that weakened protections for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Trans (LGBT) community.

It included banning people from serving in the military because of their gender identity.

The Human Rights Campaign has previously said that the Trump administration is the most anti-LGBTQ administration in decades.

Between the 2016 and 2020 elections, Trump gained LGBTQ voters.
