France will be defending the World Cup they won in Russia in 2018

The draw for the World Cup finals in Qatar on Friday gave us a clue as to who will play in the tournament.

On Monday, November 21st, the tournament begins with a match between the Netherlands and Senegal at the Al Thumama Stadium.

England will face either the USA or Wales in Group B if they beat Iran on the opening day.

When are the other group games? What day does the knockout rounds start? When is the final?

The first World Cup to be held outside the northern hemisphere summer is being provided by the BBC.

Group-stage fixtures

The World Cup features 32 teams in eight groups of four, with one European and two intercontinental finals still to be played.

Four games will be played each day during the group stage.

The winners and runners-up of each group move on.

Monday, 21 November

Group A includes the countries of Qatar, Ecuador, and Senegal.

Group B includes England, Iran, USA and Scotland/Wales.

Tuesday, 22 November

Group C includes Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland.

Group D includes France, Australia, and Tunisia.

Wednesday, 23 November

Group E includes Spain, Costa Rica, New Zealand, and Germany.

Group F includes Belgium, Canada, and Croatia.

Thursday, 24 November

Group G includes Brazil, Serbia, and Switzerland.

Group H includes Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.

Friday, 25 November

Group A includes the Netherlands vs Ecuador.

Group B includes England vs USA, Scotland/Wales/Ukraine vs Iran.

Saturday, 26 November

Group C includes Argentina, Mexico, and Poland.

Group D includes France, Tunisia, and Australia.

Sunday, 27 November

Group E includes Spain, Germany, Japan and Costa Rica.

Group F includes Croatia vs Canada.

Monday, 28 November

Group G includes Brazil, Switzerland, and Serbia.

Group C includes Saudi Arabia vs Mexico.

Group D includes Tunisia vs France, Australia/Peru vsDenmark, and the United Arab Emirates vs Australia.

Thursday, 1 December

Group E includes Japan vs Spain, Costa Rica/New Zealand vs Germany.

Group F includes Croatia, Canada and Morocco.

Friday, 2 December

Group G includes Serbia vs Switzerland.

Group H includes South Korea, Portugal, and Ghana.

The kick-off times for the knockout rounds have already been assigned.

Saturday, 3 December

The winners of Group A and runners-up of Group B will play each other.

The winners of Group C will play the runners-up of Group D.

Sunday, 4 December

The winners of Group D will play the runners-up of Group C.

The winners of Group B will play the runners-up of Group A.

Monday, 5 December

The winners of Group E will face the runners-up of Group F.

The winners of Group G will face the runners-up of Group H.

Tuesday, 6 December

The winners of Group F will face the runners-up of Group E.
