Robert Covington erupts for career-high 43 as Clips drop 153 points (2:07)

Robert Covington had a career game with 11 3-pointers and 43 points in the Clippers big win against the Bucks. There is a time and a place for it.

Robert Covington made the Friday night game for the Clippers despite the fact that the Milwaukee Bucks and LA Clippers rested many of their players.

Taking advantage of the Clippers being without four of their top players, Covington scored a career-high 43 points and buried a franchise-record 11 3-pointers to help the Clippers blow out the Bucks. The most triples made in a game in the NBA this season was by Covington. According to the Clippers, he is the only player ever to have at least 43 points, 11 3-pointers, 8 rebound and 3 blocks in a game.

While sitting the game out, Antetokounmpo admired the career night of Covington. Before Friday, he hadn't scored more than 31 points or hit more than seven 3-pointers in his NBA career.

They were trying to get me 50 and I came close.

"Hey man, go for the record, even Giannis told me." I was going for it. I think this is the most 3s I have shot in a game in my career.

Paul George, Reggie Jackson, Marcus Morris, and Nicolas Batum were all sitting one night after L.A. lost in. Teammate Amir Coffey had a career-high 32 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Six of the eight Clippers who played scored in double figures to help the team set a franchise record for most points scored in a game.

The Bucks played the second game of a back-to-back without Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, and Brook Lopez.

The Clippers led the game by as many as 43 points late in the fourth quarter.

In the third quarter, he was having the best night of his career.

When I hit my first five and scored 17 points in the third quarter, I think that is the most I have ever scored in a quarter in my career.

The basket kept getting bigger and bigger and my rhythm stayed the same. My teammates found me.

The Clippers traded for Norman Powell before the trade deadline. The Clippers have never before had a 3-point shooter like Covington, who has built a reputation for his defense.

In the locker room, teammates poured ice-cold water on their teammate.

Clippers coach Ty Lue said he didn't know it was going to be this kind of night, but he was happy for him. His willingness to want to defend every single possession, his defense, and his defense all start with him in a new situation where he has fit in great. He was rewarded by getting open shots tonight.
