A medical student in North Carolina is no longer working with patients after she suggested on social media that she stuck a patient with a needle because she was mocking her pronoun pin.

Paula Faria, spokeswoman for the Wake Forest School of Medicine, told Tucker Carlson Tonight that the student was not involved in patient care activities.

The fourth-year medical student, Kychelle Del Rosario, came under fire after complaining about a patient's response to her she/her pronoun pin.

I had a patient that I was doing a blood draw on and loudly laughed at the staff. Absolutely it is! What other pronouns are there? She wrote that he had to get stuck twice because she missed his vein.

The account with the most followers on the social media site shared a picture of the comment with them.

A Wake Forest medical student said that she pinched a patient with a needle after she called out her gun.

Faria said in a statement that the university does not condone the student's conduct.

The quality of care and compassion that Wake Forest University School of Medicine strives to provide to its patients each and every day is not reflected in the actions described in this student's social media post.

The medical student came to Del Rosario's defense on social media.

She wrote that sheard the story firsthand weeks ago and that it seemed like people were misinterpreting it. She is kind and professional and wouldn't hurt anyone.

After intense backlash for her explanation, she appears to have deleted her account.

Professor Cheryl Erwin, director of Texas Tech University's Center for Ethics, Humanities and Spirituality, slammed Del Rosario's conduct, calling it a "lapse in judgement" that warrants discipline.
