It has had a rocky start. OxygenOS 12 was released as a watered-down port of its parent company's OS, ColorOS 12. The backlash was so strong that the company gave up and promised it would return to form with OxygenOS 13; but for now, its new phones rely on software very few people like.

It has confused people with its release schedule. The typical OnePlus 10 is nowhere to be found in China, as the OnePlus 10 Pro was shipped out there several months earlier than in the rest of the world. The releases of the 9RT and the 2nd edition of the Nord CE have underwhelmed our reviewers.

The 10 Pro might be the best phone that the company releases this year. We have heard rumors that the brand might release a new phone later this year, as well as the missing one. Is there a reason to wait and compare?

There are few details coming from leakers. We will answer questions like whether or not the 10 is canceled and how the 10 Ultra could differ from the Pro.

Pete Lau, the founder of the company, told Techradar that the flagship 10 series would consist of just one phone, the OnePlus 10 Pro. Is it true?

According to information from leaker Yogesh Brar, a new phone by the name of Oscar would be released sometime between April and June. The base of the phone was speculated by the site. Brar leaked a list of upcoming launches without the 10 and said he had no idea when the model would arrive.

The conventional wisdom is that the OnePlus 10 is not going to be released. The leaker Max Jambor responded to the cancellation claim by saying that the OnePlus 10 exists. We will see it in a while if only internally.

I agree on this. There isn't really a need for a non-Pro OnePlus 10. The 10 Pro and Nord 2 (and soon Nord 2T) are the perfect team (Flagship & Solid mid-ranger). But: the OnePlus 10 exists. If only internally for now but yeah, we will see it in a while https://t.co/dku6FSCsfqMarch 31, 2022

It is possible that Lau was hiding the existence of the 10 Ultra and the 10 Pro.

We can only speculate on any hypothetical specifications based on what we know about the 10 Pro and the 9. It would most likely use either the Pro or the Dimensity 9000. If not faster, it would have an AMOLED 120Hz display with at least 8 gigabytes of RAM, and at least 65W charging.

OnePlus 10 Ultra or 10 Pro Plus: An unknown quantity

We don't have any evidence of the new phone from OnePlus, the 10 Ultra. Several leakers have mentioned its existence, and it is possible that the company is waiting to announce it to avoid cannibalizing 10 Pro sales.

Brar suggested that the phone would arrive in late Q3 or August or September around the launch of the Apple products.

It may use the Gen 1 Plus, according to a Weibo leak. It could help solve the issues with the phones. The 10 Pro was in line with the 9 Pro in terms of speeds. A Pro Plus or Ultra could give a performance boost.

The mock-up renders of the 10 Ultra were created by LetsGoDigital based on a patent application for a periscope camera with better optical zoom than the 3.3X on the 10 Pro. We will have to see if this lens can match up with the 10X optical zoom of the S22 Ultra if this does show up on the 10 Ultra.

The upcoming phone will not have much room for improvement over the 10 Pro in terms of software, battery life, and display quality. Maybe we will see a larger display, an mp boost for the main camera, or a 16GB variant. It is not clear how the phone will live up to the Ultra name.

The 10 Pro will suffice for now. OxygenOS 13 leaves plenty of room for improvement, but enthusiasts can hope that it will be a return to form. It is hard to beat in terms of hardware. The 10 Ultra will have a hard act to follow, while the regular 10 will likely upgrade the display but hopefully live up to the Pro in most other ways.

There isn't much reason to wait for a phone that may or may not exist. If you are willing to spend over a grand on it, you may want to wait for the Ultra. The Pro is likely to be one of the best phones of 2022.
